The eco-lodge, newly
opened in 2003, provides comfortable living accommodation
including a kitchen, two bedrooms, a shower room and
a veranda.
It has been built from wood grown and harvested in
Lincolnshire. Energy is generated from wind power
and a large wood-burning range, while filtered rainwater
is supplied for washing.
The lodge is located near Old Leake (just north of
Boston, Lincolnshire) in 8 acres of tranquil wood
and meadowland. A large pond provides a home for mirror
carp and other fish. Native tree species as well as
conifers make up the wood and park.
It is situated in fenland, 6 miles from the sea marshes,
with opportunities for bird watching, cycling and
walking. The Lincolnshire Wolds provide a beautiful
landscape, interspersed with occasional country pubs.
Nearby towns such as Boston, Spilsby, Skegness and
Spalding, all have their own secrets: markets, ports,
rivers, seaside, museums, cinemas, tea shops, pubs
restuarants and fish and chip shops.
